Former agriculture minister Issa Kalantari has predicted a 1-2% hike in prices of some agricultural products as a result of the recent rise in fuel prices following the government’s decision to reduce fuel subsidies. Prices of agricultural products produced by non-traditional methods as well as forage and cereal crops are expected to be affected by the surge in fuel prices, he said. Kalantari suggested that the government increase the rate of guaranteed purchase for these products as a way to combat the price hike, ISNA reported.
