Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei said economic problems as well as the nuclear dispute can be effectively addressed by making the most of internal capacities and sticking to the principles of the resistance economy.
"The key to solving economic problems and those related to the nuclear issue is relying on domestic capacities and (building) confidence in the resistance economy," IRNA quoted the Leader as saying.
He made the remarks in an address to lawmakers in Tehran on Wednesday.
"There is no dead end in the country," Ayatollah Khamenei stressed, adding, "The remedy for problems of the country is boosting domestic production and applying financial discipline."
To address the problem of constrained resources, "the allocation of funds must be prioritized" and "financial discipline" should be exercised, he noted.
Referring to the ongoing nuclear negotiations with the P5+1 (the five permanent members of the United Nations Security Council plus Germany) to resolve the long-running standoff over Tehran's nuclear program, the Leader said, "Our position on the nuclear negotiations is what we have already announced publicly, which is the same as what has been conveyed to officials orally and in writing."
"However, some points related to explaining and emphasizing our principled stance in the talks have been discussed in private."
In order to efficiently deal with the issues we have with the West, including the nuclear issue, it is essential to focus on "domestic capacities" and help "bolster production", Ayatollah Khamenei said.
Noting that the nuclear negotiators are working hard to uphold the rights of the Iranian nation, he called on them to make every effort to fully protect national interests in the negotiations through asserting the country's "stance".
"(The negotiators) have to insist on our declared stance in the negotiations and we hope they can defend national interests and those of the establishment."
