The Central Bank of Iran released the latest statistics on monetary indices based on data gathered between March 21, 2014 and February 20, 2015, Akhbar Bank reported. Private banks and credit institutions attracted 68.7 percent of non-state sector’s deposits, leaving commercial and specialized banks with 20.1 and 11.2 percent of deposits respectively, central bank data show. Moreover, 59.2 percent of non-state sector’s debt to banks and financial institutions is owed to private banks and credit institutions. The figure stood at 16.1 percent for commercial banks and 24.6 percent for specialized banks. The CBI categorized debt held by the non-governmental sector to the banking system under three main categories: state-owned commercial banks (Bank Sepah and Bank Melli), specialized banks (Bank Maskan, Export Development Bank, Bank of Industry and Mine, Bank Keshvarzi, and Tose’e Ta’avon Bank), and private banks and credit institutions.
