A foreign ministry official has commented that US-led air strikes against the Islamic State (IS) in Syria will bolster extremism in the region. “Illegal strikes and the US madness in Syria will result in nothing but boosting extremism in the region,” Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab and African Affairs Hossein Amir-Abdollahian said in an interview with the Mehr news agency on Monday.
“If the United States is honest, it should stop the transfer of the Islamic State’s dollars instead of targeting Syria’s infrastructure and gas and oil facilities,” he said.
“Changing the system in Syria through boosting terrorism and show military attacks against the Islamic State is a dream which will not come true.”
