Development of the offshore sector of Phase 14 of South Pars gas field in the Persian Gulf is approximately 60 percent completed, following the installation of the Phase's fourth jacket in the past few days, Majid Shamlou, director of Phase 14 said.
He added that laying a new pipeline for oil exports as well as an intra-field pipeline in now underway, IRNA said in a report.
Phase 14 is slated to produce 56 million cubic meters of gas and 75,000 barrels of gas condensate per year to meet domestic gas demand and supply feedstock to petrochemical units in the Pars Special Energy Economic Zone (PSEEZ) in the southern Bushehr Province.
The phase is also expected to produce more than one million tons of gas condensate, one million tons of ethane for petrochemical units and 400 tons of brimstone per year.
However having the lowest physical progress among SP phases, Phase 14 is not a priority for development in the present Iranian year (ends March 2016), according to officials.
A consortium of Iranian companies is working on Phase 14, including the Iranian Offshore Engineering and Construction Company (IOEC), the Industrial Development and Renovation Organization (IDRO), the National Iranian Drilling Company (NIDC), and the Iran Shipbuilding and Offshore Industries Complex Co. (ISOICO).
South Pars is the world's largest gas field, shared between Iran and Qatar, covering an area of 3,700 square kilometers of Iran's territorial waters in the Persian Gulf. It adjoins Qatar’s North Field, which measures around 6,000 square kilometers.
