Iran’s annual wheat consumption is 2.5 times more than that of the world average, according to the latest data published by the UN’s Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO).
Every Iranian on average consumes 167.6 kilograms of wheat, while the global average is 67.1 kg. Iranians also consume 2.5 times more wheat than developing countries (60 kg), and advanced countries (96.5 kg) a year respectively, IANA reports.
Further, rice consumption is 7 times more than European Union countries with an annual consumption equal to 36.6 kg per capita, in contrast to 5.3 kg for EU members.
The world’s average rice consumption is 57.2 kg per capita; with 68.1 kg in developing and 12.4 kg in advanced countries.
