Iran’s ambassador to India said the US allies in the Middle East are the main violators of human rights, and the US “has closed its eyes” on (the need for) democracy in supporting its friends and allies. Gholamreza Ansari made the remarks in a meeting in New Delhi to discuss the latest developments in war-torn Yemen on Sunday, IRNA reported.
“Traditional US interests in the Middle East related to oil and gas are at stake,” he said, which is why “US allies in the region are terrified.”
Pointing to extremism as a major problem in the region and a product of panic among America’s friends, he said, “Bombing is no solution to the regional crises.”
