Gas extraction from the South Pars field in the March-September period saw a 14 percent increase compared to the same period last year, and its value exceeded $1.2 billion, said the director of South Pars Gas Complex.
Masoud Hosseini said the production of gas condensate in the said period had a 12.5 percent increase from March-September 2013, whereas the production of propane and butane increased by 272 and 59 percent in the said period respectively, Shana reported.
"Hopefully, we will increase the extraction over the next 6 months to weather the winter without concern," said Hosseini, adding that 78 percent more sour gas was pumped into the fifth national pipeline.
Due to reducing the duration of major repairs, gas supply to refineries also increased to 71.2 billion cubic meters in the March-August period after a 15 percent increase compared to the same time last year.
Gas output of refineries reached 66.5 billion cubic meters in the said period, with the production of gas condensate at 10.5 million cubic meters and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) at 583,000 metric tons.
