Cartoonists from 50 countries have submitted their works on the Holocaust to the secretariat of the 2nd International Holocaust Cartoon Contest.
According to the public relations department of the contest, most of the participating artists at the event are from Iran, France, Indonesia, Brazil and Turkey, IRNA reported.
Since call-up for the competition, issued in January, western media showed negative reactions to the event. However, many artists from various countries joined the contest regardless of the decisions of their governments. The cartoons received so far are from Australia, Britain, Spain, Russia, Romania, Nigeria, Mexico, Germany, Denmark, China, Canada, and the US among others.
The contest comprises two sections of cartoon and caricature. The top three winners in each section will be awarded.
