A series of photos by Ebrahim Haghighi, the veteran contemporary artist, will be exhibited at Shirin Gallery.
Titled ‘Iran in the Mirror’, the series was developed “in the course of my trips to various parts of Iran during the past six years,” the artist explained.
Around 25 photos will be showcased at the exhibition, with each photo in three to five editions, Honaronline reported.
The prominent graphic designer was born in Tehran in 1949. He is an architecture graduate from the Faculty of Fine Arts of Tehran University and a member of Alliance Graphique Internationale (AGI) as well as Iranian Illustrators for Children’s Books Association, and Iranian Documentary Filmmakers Association.
In addition to designing magazines such as Talash and Adineh, Haghighi has designed posters and sets for various plays, movies, and television shows including the legendary series ‘Sarbedaran’ as well as opening and closing credits for films and series including the children’s film ‘City of Mice’, drama series ‘Narges’ and the Iranian entry for the Best Foreign Language Film at the 75th Academy Awards ‘I’m Taraneh, 15’.
He also established the International Council of Graphics Designers Association with artists Ghobad Shiva and Morteza Momayez, and is a graphics instructor at Tehran University, Farabi University, and the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting University.
A travel aficionado, the artist takes a trip at any given chance harvesting the opportunities to photograph cities, places, and sceneries.
“ About six years ago I came up with the idea of placing mirrors in historical or natural places across the country and photographing them, and started practicing it among Kalouts (yardangs) of Shahdad Desert near Bardsir County, Kerman Province,” he said adding that the use of mirrors in his artworks has gradually evolved since then.
Haghighi has also compiled a list of tourist attractions of Iran that will be available to the public along with the photographs at the gallery. The list includes historical buildings in Isfahan, several mosques and Persepolis in Shiraz, tourist attractions in Qazvin and in Tehran especially Golestan Palace.
The exhibition opens on March 10 and welcomes all photography enthusiasts at No. 5, 13th St., Sana’i Ave., Karimkhan Zand Blvd., Tehran.
