The mass production of the domestically manufactured an anti-warship cruise missile, named the Qadir, began on Saturday and the first cargo of the weapon was delivered to the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps Naval Force.
The ceremony to launch the production line of the missile was attended by Defense Minister Brigadier General Hossein Dehqan and IRGC Naval Force Commander Rear Admiral Ali Fadavi.
The Qadir missile was unveiled on August 24, 2014 in the presence of President Hassan Rouhani.
"Today, we are witnessing the simultaneous launch of the mass production line and delivery of the strategic and effective missile in the area of marine defense and combat," Fars news agency quoted Dehqan as saying.
"Iran has indigenized the production of a wide range of missiles with various applications," he said, noting, "The fighting power of the armed forces in air, land and sea has increased due to the high precision, speed and quality of our products."
"Rapid response, the ability to fly at a low altitude, great precision and high destructive power are among the main features of the Qadir missile, which is equipped with advanced radars and is capable of being launched from various vessels and helicopters," the defense minister said, adding it can hit targets within a range of 300 kilometers.
