Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif says the campaign against terrorism has always been a top priority for the Islamic Republic.
Zarif made the remarks in a meeting with UN envoy on Syria Staffan de Mistura in New York on Tuesday on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly, in which the two officials discussed the latest developments in Syria.
“The campaign against terrorism… has become a priority for the international community,” the Mehr news agency quoted the foreign minister as saying.
He also described the UN envoy’s efforts to help achieve a “political reconciliation” in the crisis-hit Arab country as a “step in the right direction” and said it is necessary that the United Nations plays an “effective” and “impartial” role.
