The UN rights chief said the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) is ready to increase consultations and cooperation with Iran. “We welcome every effort that can help improve the situation of human rights,” High Commissioner Zeid Ra’ad Al Hussein said in a meeting with Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif on the sidelines of the session of the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva on Monday, IRNA reported. Zarif also expressed Iran’s readiness to increase cooperation with OHCHR, underlining the need for addressing the root causes of extremism and terrorism in the campaign to curb the problems.
