President of Iran-India Tradesmen Council, Ebrahim Jamili says Iran’s import of tea from India amounts to $30 million, adding that the amount is expected to increase. He noted that the council has to be careful not to damage the market for domestic products. “Iranian people tend to use foreign tea more than domestically produced tea,” he was quoted by ISNA as saying, lamenting that Iranian tea is not publicized and promoted properly. He called for more action to promote Iranian-made tea as a way to help the domestic sector grow; saying that India and Sri Lanka are the two main sources for Iran’s tea imports.
