In an interview with ISNA on Friday, Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) director Ali Akbar Salehi said his recent meetings with US Secretary of Energy Ernest Moniz, which were held as part of nuclear talks between Iran and the United States in Geneva, were helpful.
“In these meetings, we reviewed technical issues (concerning a prospective final deal to resolve the long-running dispute over Tehran’s nuclear program), which had reached a deadlock in some way,” Salehi said, adding, “Fortunately, we achieved very positive results and took great steps, but there are still some matters that need to be discussed.”
In addition, the AEOI chief said, “(Discussions on) technical aspects will pave the way for (the resolution of) legal and political issues.”
