The United Nations spokesperson said in a press briefing on Monday that UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon backs the international diplomacy aiming to resolve the dispute over Tehran’s nuclear program, despite efforts by Israeli leaders to “obstruct” the nuclear negotiations, IRNA reported.
Asked about the UN secretary general’s position on Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s planned speech at the US Congress on Iran’s nuclear issue, Stéphane Dujarric said, “Regardless of such efforts and actions, Ban Ki-moon will continue supporting the process of talks between Iran and the P5+1 (the five permanent members of the UN Security Council plus Germany).”
The “obstructive efforts” of Israeli leaders against a nuclear deal between Iran and the major powers do not affect the UN chief’s policy on the negotiations.
