Iranian spent about $30 million on their travel abroad last summer, according to the latest statistics of Statistical Center of Iran (SCI).

The total number of journeys outside the country by Iranians, according to the data, was 425,000, majority air travel. Other means of transportation includes train, boats, bus, and cars (rental or private), ISNA reported.

The largest portion of the spending went toward touring and sightseeing, which amounted to around $14 million. The next biggest spend went on transportation, coming close to $6 million. Shopping and souvenirs expenses came to about $5 million, with an added $1.7 million on personal shopping for goods, $1.5 million on visa and legal tariffs, about $1 million on restaurants and food, $600,000 on hotels and accommodation, $177,000 on cultural, sport, and leisure activities, and finally $3,000 on medical expenses.

The amount of money that Iranians spent for domestic trips has been estimated at about $1.3 billion.
