The first direct flight from Berlin to Tehran was launched by the German airline Germania, on Sunday, with Iran’s Ambassador to Germany, Ali Majedi, and Germania’s CEO, Karsten Balke, taking part in the inauguration that was held at Berlin’s Schönefeld Airport, IRNA reported. “The number of flights between the two countries has been rising as a result of the growing economic ties between Iran and Germany,” the ambassador said, reiterating the importance of non-stop flights between the two countries. “Germania is expected to conduct two direct flights between Berlin and Tehran on a weekly base,” he added, hoping that Mahan Air’s plan for launching direct flights between Tehran and Munich will take effect within the next 10 days.
