More than 3.71 million tons of goods worth $1.25 billion have been exported from Sistan-Baluchestan Province since the beginning of the current Iranian year on March 21, registering 8% and 3% rises in weight and value respectively, Mohammad Ali Khashi, a local official, said last week.
The exports included cement, clinker, travertine stone, coal coke, thermal coal, dates, gas, fruit and vegetable, pesticide, tomato, washing powder, apple, plum, raisin, tiles, shrimp, fish, and canned fish, IRIB News reported.
Russia, Pakistan, France, Germany, India, Brazil, the UAE, China, Thailand, the Netherlands, Kenya and Afghanistan were the main export destinations.
Meanwhile, 1.67 million tons of goods worth $1.59 billion have been imported to the province, registering 18% decline in weight, but a 40% rise in value.
The imports included wheat, rice, feed corn, feed oat, mango, banana, sesame, potato, livestock, textile, tea, automobile spare parts, light and heavy automobile tires, cooling devices, spice and fish.
The official added that 660,303 tons of goods including used auto spare parts, mung beans, lapis lazuli, almond, liquified gas, apple, rubber, potato, rice, cement and sulfur have been transited via 31,977 trucks and 963 wagons through Milak, Mirjaveh and Chabahar customs terminals of the province to Pakistan, Afghanistan, China, Azerbaijan, the UAE, India and Iraq, registering a 16% decrease.
“Customs services have been provided to 261,785 incoming in addition to 222,139 outgoing passengers, registering 279% and 248% rises respectively. The passengers traveled from passenger terminals of Milak, Mirjaveh, Rimedan, Zahedan Airport and Konarak Airport.”
Sistan-Baluchestan Province is the second largest province of the 31 provinces of Iran, after Kerman Province, with an area of 180,726 km2. It is in the southeast of the country, bordering Pakistan and Afghanistan, and its capital is the city of Zahedan.
The province has important geological and metal mineral potentials such as chrome, copper, granite, antimony, talc, manganese, iron, lead, zinc, tin, nickel, platinum, gold and silver.
Khash Cement Company is a notable producer in the region.
