A total of 199,218 tons of poultry meat were produced in Iran’s official slaughterhouses during the ninth month of the current Iranian year (Nov. 22-Dec. 21), registering a 6% increase compared with last year’s corresponding period and a 32% rise compared with the previous month.
According to the Statistical Center of Iran, chicken accounted for 196,218 tons or 98.5% of the overall production while other types of poultry, such as turkey, quail, ostrich and partridge, amounted to 3,000 tons or 1.5% of the overall poultry output during the period under review.
Red meat production in Iran's official slaughterhouses amounted to 49,887 tons during the same period to register a 7% decrease compared to the previous month and a 9% fall year-on-year.
Beef accounted for 23,622 tons, or 47.4% of the overall meat production, indicating a year-on-year decline of 18%.
A total of 23,622 tons of lamb (unchanged YOY), 3,502 tons of goat meat (up 4%) and 974 tons of meat from other types of livestock were produced during the month, accounting for 43.7%, 7% and 1.9% of the total output respectively.
