Asia’s Role in Forming Fair Int’l Order Underlined 

Stressing the need for multilateralism and concerted action to address regional challenges, the Iranian parliament speaker said the world requires a new order under the influence of Asia.
In an address to the 13th Plenary Session of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly in Turkey’s Antalya on Monday, Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf said, “We need the materialization of a new and fair international order with Asia as its source of inspiration and main source.”
He reaffirmed Iran’s readiness in overcoming existing challenges and achieving common goals among regional countries, especially in strengthening the institutions of multilateralism, IRNA reported.
Qalibaf also noted that the issue of Palestine and its oppressed people deserves more serious attention from international circles.
“We believe that the final solution of the Palestinian crisis will be possible not through imposed plans to consolidate the occupation, but by referring to the votes of the Palestinian people, the return of the Palestinian refugees to the country, and the establishment of a just peace,” he asserted.
He termed the assassination of top Iranian commander General Qassem Soleimani and his associates in a US airstrike in the Iraqi capital Baghdad three years ago as a clear example of “state terrorism.”
The third martyrdom anniversary of General Soleimani and former deputy head of Iraq’s Popular Mobilization Forces Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis was commemorated last week in Iran and other countries in the region.
Qalibaf said the former IRGC Quds Force commander spent his life in sincere service to ensuring regional and global security and took effective measures against international terrorism and extremist groups.
Trump and all his accomplices and deputies, Iran’s parliament speaker stressed, must be held accountable in concerned courts and judicial bodies.
The APA meeting is attended by the parliament speakers from seven countries, namely Turkey, Iran, the Republic of Azerbaijan, Saudi Arabia, Timor-Leste, Turkmenistan and Yemen, as well as four deputy speakers, 25 participating members and five participating observers.
The APA was established in 2006 at the Seventh Session of the Association of Asian Parliamentary for Peace. It has 42 Member Parliaments and 16 observers.
The assembly has been created as a forum to exchange views, ideas and experiences for developing common strategies and promoting peace in Asia and the world, according to its website.
The APA is comprised of the Plenary, the Executive Council, Bureau of the Assembly, the Committees, and the Secretariat.
