Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei underlined the necessity of continued efforts to keep up the country’s scientific progress.
“Universities, scientific centers, research centers and relevant institutions must prioritize scientific advancement and progress so that the country will not fall behind on the scientific front,” the Leader said in a meeting with members of the Supreme Council of the Cultural Revolution in Tehran on Tuesday, his official website reported.
Ayatollah Khamenei highlighted the key role and position of the council and said the top-level body, which is tasked with taking care of cultural issues, “must monitor and precisely identify weaknesses and wrong cultural propositions, and offer scholarly solutions to promote correct and progressive propositions.”
The Leader said the main duty of the council is guiding cultural activities in the country, stressing that the body can pave the way for formation of popular movements to promote virtues, such as upholding the values of “thrift” and “contentment”, through properly guiding thousands of non-governmental organizations which are involved in various cultural activities.
Ayatollah Khamenei said it is not possible to enforce cultural guidelines through merely communicating relevant documents to organizations such as the Culture Ministry, the Education Ministry, the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting and the Islamic Propagation Organization, and heads of the three branches of government have to be actively engaged in the council’s efforts to secure the implementation of major cultural plans.
