The National Iranian Copper Industries Company produced 168,871 tons of copper anode during the current fiscal year’s first six months (March 21-Sept. 22), down 6% year-on-year, latest data released by the Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization show.
A total of 31,243 tons of copper anode were produced during the month to Sept. 22A total of 610,696 tons of copper concentrate were produced during the six-month period, up 2% YOY.
During the sixth month, concentrate output reached 110,353 tons, registering a 4% fall compared with the same period of last year.
The production of copper cathode hit 143,430 tons in H1, unchanged YOY.
A total of 27,954 tons of copper cathode were produced during the sixth month, indicating a 4% rise compared with the same period of last year.
Molybdenum production in H1 stood at 3,551 tons, down 11% year-on-year.
NICICO produced 675 tons of molybdenum during the sixth month of the current fiscal year, registering an 11% decline YOY. It is a leading copper producer in the Middle East and North Africa region and its mines hold close to 14% of Asia’s copper deposits and about 3% of global reserves.
The functions of this company include extraction from copper mines to produce high-grade products such as cathode, slab, billet and 8-mm wires.
