The works of master painter Mahmoud Farshchian have been warmly welcomed by visitors at the New Delhi World Book Fair, which has seen Iran’s active participation.

A press release by the public relations office of Iran Cultural Fairs Institute (ICFI) which represents Iranian print industry by introducing more than 200 books at this year’s edition of the fair, said a large number of university instructors, students and people visited the Iranian stall and purchased several titles, in particular Farshchian’s book of paintings.

Offering catalogs and brochures which introduce the Tehran International Book Fair (TIBF) and registering the names of Indian and international publishers for the next edition of the event to be held in May, are among the other tasks achieved by the ICFI.

Being the oldest book fair in India, this year’s event is the largest in the Afro-Asian region. Singapore has been accorded the ‘Guest of Honor’ status and the ‘Focus Country’ is South Korea. The book fair started on February 14 and will run until Feb. 22.

Born in 1930 in Isfahan, Iran, Mahmoud Farshchian is a master of Persian painting and miniatures. His masterpieces have been hosted by several museums and exhibitions worldwide.
