Tehran After Durable Deal in JCPOA Talks

Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian reiterated Iran’s determination to strike a strong and sustainable agreement in the talks on the revival of the 2015 nuclear deal and lifting the sanctions on Tehran.
In a meeting with his Dutch counterpart Wopke Hoekstra on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York on Saturday, Amir-Abdollahian said Iran is resolved to reach a durable agreement in the JCPOA talks.
Pointing to the initiatives that Iran has presented at the JCPOA revival talks, Amir-Abdollahian said Tehran is determined to reach a deal with the purpose of removing sanctions against the country, Tasnim News Agency reported.
The Dutch diplomat expressed hope that a deal would be reached as soon as possible so that the restrictions hindering the progress of the Iranian-Dutch ties could be removed.
The two ministers also discussed other issues, including the Ukraine war, the energy industry and the problems of Afghan refugees.
In a separate meeting on the margins of the General Assembly with his Belgian counterpart Hadja Lahbib, the Iranian foreign minister expressed Tehran’s readiness to conclude a number of trade and investment cooperation agreements with Belgium.
Amir-Abdollahian voiced Iran’s readiness to finalize a number of basic cooperation documents with Belgium, including the maritime transportation agreement, double taxation avoidance agreement, and document on supporting mutual investment.
The top Iranian diplomat deplored western governments’ double standards and selective approaches to human rights.
The two foreign ministers talked about ways for judicial and consular cooperation between Iran and Belgium, stressing the need for consular services to support the nationals of the two states in accordance with international agreements and conventional documents.
In another meeting with Amir-Abdollahian, the Austrian foreign minister said the companies of his country are willing to seize the opportunities in the Iranian market and enhance economic cooperation with Iran.
Alexander Schallenberg underscored the willingness of Austrian companies for presence in new markets in the West Asia region, including those in Iran, and said his country is prepared to take part in drawing up a roadmap to speed up cooperation with Iran.
He also welcomed Iran’s initiatives in the Vienna negotiations on the revival of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action and continued diplomatic contacts, and described an agreement between Iran and world powers as being within the reach.
The Austrian foreign minister also expressed his country’s readiness to play a constructive role in resolving the remaining issues with the International Atomic Energy Agency in line with the efforts to conclude the Vienna talks.
Amir-Abdollahian pointed to the history of diplomatic ties between Iran and Austria and the constructive role of the country in the Vienna talks, and reiterated Iran’s will and determination for development of bilateral ties.
He also outlined the potential of the two countries in the areas of economic, trade, cultural and parliamentary ties and underlined Tehran’s readiness to draw up a roadmap for the development of the relations.
