Plans to change working hours in state-run offices during the hot season to avoid power outages have been implemented in southern provinces and northern parts will also join the scheme soon, the head of Iran Power Generation, Distribution and Transmission Company (Tavanir) said.
"Offices are obliged to close at 1:30 p.m. so that Tavanir can meet power demand during peak hours that start at 2 p.m.," Arash Kordi was also quoted as saying by ISNA on Monday.
State organizations’ power consumption is constantly monitored remotely and their electricity supply will be cut off if they do not comply with Tavanir’s regulations, he added.
Kordi noted that changing working hours is expected to help with load management in provincial capitals, big cities and towns.
