FM to Attend Davos Forum

Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian headed to Switzerland on Wednesday to attend the World Economic Forum’s Annual Meeting 2022 which started on May 22. 
Nearly 2,500 of world’s leaders from politics, business, civil society, academia, media and the arts were set to descend on the Swiss mountain village of Davos, as the World Economic Forum hosts its first in-person annual meeting for more than two years.
This year’s meeting is centered on the theme “History at a Turning Point: Government Policies and Business Strategies.”
Participants in the event tackle global issues and find solutions to the world’s most urgent challenges, including the ongoing global pandemic, the war in Ukraine, geo-economic shocks and climate change.
For more than 50 years, the World Economic Forum, also known as the Davos Forum, has served as a global platform where world leaders come together to address critical issues at the start of each year.
The conference had to be canceled in 2021 due to the Covid-19 pandemic, but the organizers divided the agenda into a series of virtual meetings to take place in the month of January.
The 2022 event was planned for January 17-21, but was postponed to May 22-26 due to the spike in Covid-19 cases.
