A total of 106,000 tons of edible mushrooms were produced in Iran during the last Iranian year (March 2020-21).
According to the Statistical Center of Iran, 1,953 mushroom farms are registered in the country, of which 1,267 are active.
Around 8,505 people were employed in those farms, around 70% of whom were men and 30% women.
The provinces of Tehran, Alborz, Isfahan, Khorasan Razavi, Fars and Qazvin are considered mushroom cultivation hubs.
