Over 120 tons of saffron worth $60 million were exported to 60 countries in the current fiscal year’s first seven months (March 21-Oct. 22), according to Rouhollah Latifi, spokesman of the Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration.
The official explained that 75.54 tons worth $37.36 million were exported in packages weighing over 30 grams (bulk), 30.02 tons worth $15.33 million in packages containing less than 10 grams of saffron and 0.9 ton worth $7.05 million in 10-30-gram packages, ILNA reported.
China with 24.52 tons worth $13.36 million, Spain with 17.61 tons worth $7.57 million and the UAE with 11.82 tons worth $5.79 million were the top three export destinations among 51 countries that bought packages weighing over 30 grams.
