Mehrabad International Airport registered a 28% year-on-year growth in takeoffs and landings that reached 58,504 in the first six months of the current Iranian year (March 21-Sept. 22), according to the airport’s managing director.
Ebrahim Moradi added that the airport’s passenger traffic increased by 2% to 4.6 million during the period under review from 2.27 million in the corresponding period of last year, the news portal of Iran’s Ministry of Roads and Urban Development reported.
A total of 35,307 tons of cargos were handled during the six months under review, 14% higher than the previous year's 30,902 tons.
This is while the airport’s passenger traffic and cargo handling during the sixth fiscal month (Aug. 23-Sept. 22) registered a 28% and 22% YOY decline respectively, as takeoffs and landings were 2% higher year-on-year.
According to the official, the airport’s takeoffs and landings in the sixth month registered an 8% growth compared with the previous month (July 23-Aug. 22), passenger traffic registered a 9% increase and cargo handling registered a 9% growth.
Mashhad-Mehrabad was the busiest route in the H1 fiscal 2021-22.
