A total of 714,000 tons of rice worth $608 million were cleared from Iranian customs during the first six months of the current fiscal year (March 21-Sept. 22), registering a 33% and 24% growth in weight and value respectively compared with last year’s corresponding period, Rouhollah Latifi, the spokesman of the Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration, said.
The volume in the sixth month of the current fiscal year (Aug. 23-Sept. 22) hit 528,000 tons worth $440 million.
For the first five months of the fiscal 2021-22 (March 21-Aug. 22), it stood at 186,000 tons worth $167 million, IRNA reported.
