18% Rise in Gasoline Use

Daily gasoline consumption in Iran has reached 85 million liters, which is 18% higher than the corresponding period of last year, the head of Gasoline Station Owners Association said.
“However, the fuel’s consumption is still 20% lower than the pre-pandemic period,” Homayoun Salehi was also quoted as saying by ILNA.
Two years ago, during the summer holidays, when the deadly coronavirus had not yet spread, gasoline consumption reached 115 million liters per day, he added.
Last April, sales of gasoline declined to 50 million liters per day, its lowest level in the country during the past two years, as the infectious disease peaked, locking up millions of people inside their homes as lockdowns came into effect.
According to the head of the National Iranian Oil Products Distribution Company, the supply of gasoline, diesel and other oil derivatives across the country is continuing normally and there are no worries in this regard. 
“All refineries are up and running, and petroleum byproducts are transferred to fuel depots in major cities as usual,” Keramat Veiskarami added.
The official reassured that gasoline inventories are full and the fuel is transferred from refineries both via pipelines and tanker trucks.
The National Iranian Oil Company produces 110 million liters of gasoline per day, of which 52% are produced by the Persian Gulf Star Refinery and the rest by Shazand Refinery in Arak, Markazi Province, Tabriz Refinery in East Azarbaijan and Bandar Abbas Refinery in Hormozgan Province.
