Iran’s automotive output dipped by 0.8% during the first five months of the current Iranian year (March 21-Aug. 22) compared with the year-ago period.
According to data released by Securities and Exchange Organization on Codal.ir, Iran Khodro (IKCO), SAIPA and Pars Khodro, Iran’s three major automakers, produced 345,392 sedans during the period, which figure was 348,257 last year.
IKCO’s output during the five months rose slightly to 169,956, which is 0.5% higher than last year’s corresponding period when the company produced 169,065 passenger vehicles.
SAIPA, IKCO’s competitor, produced 131,669 vehicles to mark a 4.2% year-on-year decline while Pars Khodro, a subsidiary of SAIPA, registered a 5% growth by producing 43,767 cars during the period.
Consecutive monthly comparisons show that the total production rate fell by 34.5% with 56,081 units.
