Mahiroud customs terminal, known as Sheikh Abu Nasr Farahi on the Afghan side, resumed its operation on July 10 after it was shut down following a conflict between Afghan government forces and the Taliban, the spokesperson of the Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration said.
"The process of exporting goods is slow, as trucks have been abandoned at the frontier on the Afghan side," Rouhollah Latifi was also quoted as saying by IRNA.
Mohammad Taqi Hashemi, an official with Khorasan Razavi Governorate, said problems related to Afghanistan are beyond the jurisdiction of IRICA and if traders carry out customs procedures, they will be free to export their goods.
