The deputy foreign minister said the nuclear negotiating team has not given up “national ideals” and “Islamic dignity”.

Hassan Qashqavi made the remarks in the provincial city of Hamadan on late Sunday. “The nuclear negotiating team has adhered to their rightful stances and proceeded based on government policies and the framework set by the Supreme National Security Council,” IRNA reported.

Elsewhere, he said the Zionist regime has been recognized as an aggressor and a war criminal according to the exact text of some UN resolutions, such as United Nations Security Council Resolution 242, while they have refused to join the nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) and comply with the relevant obligations.

He quoted former Israeli president Shimon Peres as saying that the regime has a stockpile of some 200 nuclear bombs, adding that no international inspections of Israeli nuclear sites have been carried out, while they have obtained a nuclear-armed submarine.

He said, “According to UNSC Resolution 598, not only Iran was not called a war criminal, but on the basis of the UN statements it was recognized as the victim of the (the 1980-88 Iran-Iraq) war, weapons of mass destruction and chemical weapons.”

The deputy foreign minister for consular, parliamentary and expatriates affairs said Iran has been a signatory to the NPT and allowed the UN nuclear watchdog’s inspectors to visit its nuclear sites and install cameras at its facilities.

Qashqavi reiterated that all countries and even the Israeli regime are certain that Iran has no nuclear bomb, but what some western countries claim is that Iran could develop weapons of mass destruction at a point in the future.
