A 5.9-magnitude earthquake which hit the southern province of Bushehr on Sunday partially damaged facilities of Gachsaran Oil and Gas Company.
Houshang Seidali, head of the company, the temblor collapsed a celling at the Goureh pump station and a turbine stopped functioning, the Persian-language economic newspaper Donyay-e-Eqtesad reported.
The incident slightly disrupted crude production, he said, but did not provide details. The firm produces 600,000 bpd of crude and 30 mcm of gas a day.
The company operates oil fields in four provinces, namely Bushehr, Fars, Khuzestan and Kohgilouyeh-Boyerahmad.
The earthquake, which struck at 11 am local time and injured dozens of people, was felt at the major Kharg Oil Terminal, the country's main crude export port on the Persian Gulf.
"No damage was reported to the facilities and operations are normal," Abbas Asadrouz, managing director of Iranian Oil Terminals Co., was quoted said. Petrochemical plants were also unaffected.
The health, safety and environment (HSE) director at National Petrochemical Company Davoud Emadi, said the local petrochemical plants were spared by the quake. "Feedstock supply is steady and plants are operating normally."
The earthquake hit Bandar Genaveh, a port city along the Persian Gulf and Deylam bordering the two southern provinces of Bushehr and Fars. No fatalities were reported, but houses were damaged and power and telephone lines were cut.
