Minister of industry, mine and trade, Mohammadreza Nematzadeh, said on Friday that Iran’s pharmaceutical industry must be export-based, noting that the administration is seeking to empower private units in order to enable them to increase their share in non-oil exports. “Iran exports $120 million worth of pharmaceutical products to other countries every year,” IRNA quoted Nematzadeh as saying, noting that the amount is much lower taking to account the country’s true capacity. He called upon the Iranian manufacturers to take part in the trade fairs which are to be concurrently held in Kabul, Baghdad and Doha by the end of the current Iranian month (February 19), adding that 50% of the expenses of the companies that take part in such foreign fairs, will be taken care of by the government.
