In separate letters to Pope Francis and other world leaders, President Hassan Rouhani extended congratulations on Christmas, marking the birth anniversary of Prophet Jesus (PBUH).
Addressing the pope, Rouhani praised Jesus (PBUH) as “the prophet of peace and kindness”, expressing hope that 2021 would witness the containment of the new coronavirus and return of normal life, increased hope and happiness among members of the international community, and promotion of peace and security throughout the world, President.ir reported.
Writing to world leaders, he called for regional and international cooperation toward the resolution of crises facing the world, including the ongoing global pandemic.
Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif also extended felicitations on the occasion, wishing a “happy, healthy and peaceful holiday season” for all Christians.
“The birth of Spirit of God—Jesus, revered by all Muslims as a great prophet—is a joyous occasion for ALL mankind. I wish all a very Merry Christmas, and a happy, healthy and peaceful holiday season,” Zarif said in a message posted on his Twitter account on Thursday.
