Following its international screening, the documentary ‘Trucker and the Fox’ directed by Arash Lahooti has entered the competition section of the Budapest International Documentary Festival (BIDF).

This film is the only one from Iran and will screen among 50 other documentary films from around the world, cinemapress reported.

BIDF is an international competition and platform in Hungary for creative documentaries from all over the world without thematic restriction. The first edition takes place September 24-28 at Corvin Cinema, Budapest.

  Driver-Filmmaker

The story centers on a truck driver newly released from a psychiatric hospital after a bout of severe depression brought about by the death of his pet fox. The man, Mahmood Kiyani Falavarjani, returns to his family, work, and favorite hobby - filmmaking. Having previously won awards for his short films starring his beloved, lamented fox, he sets out to film his most ambitious project yet: a love story between two donkeys. Arash Lahooti’s sympathetic documentary captures Mahmood’s fascinating life as a family man, eccentric animal lover, and artist.

A production of Documentary and Experimental Film Center (DEFC), the movie was the winner of the Gold Hugo for best documentary at Chicago International Film Festival, 2013.
