Iran exports $30-40 million worth of flowers and plants annually, the head of Flower and Ornamental Plants Association of Iran said.
Speaking to ILNA, Pejman Azadi added that Iran has the capacity to increase the export volume to $1 billion per year, but only 5% of the capacity have been realized so far.
Azerbaijan, Iraq, Turkmenistan and Georgia are the main export destinations for Iranian flowers and plants, he added.
According to the Agriculture Ministry, 1,811 hectares of farms are under the cultivation of flowers and plants in Iran.
