Spring Fairs in Late February

Spring fairs will be held in late February across the country, deputy industries minister Hossein Modarres Khiyabani said.
A range of products, including shoes and bags, apparel, nuts, pastry and chocolate, will be offered at 10-15% discount at the fairs, the official was quoted as saying by IRNA.
The events are organized to directly supply locally produced goods at cheap prices to the public in the runup to the Norouz holidays (much before the onset of Iranian New Year on March 20).
The ongoing Iranian year has seen consumer price inflation skyrocket, diminishing people's purchasing power at a pace unprecedented in recent years.
The direct supply of goods from producers to consumers at spring fairs seeks to provide a respite for the less privileged during the New Year holidays.
Latest data provided by the Statistical Center of Iran show Consumer Price Index of “food and beverages” group in the 12-month period ending Jan. 20 increased by 52.4% compared with last year’s corresponding period.
