Close to 1,200 kilograms of farmed caviar was exported in this Iranian calendar year (ending March 20), ISNA quoted deputy head of Iran’s Fisheries Organization, Hossein Abdolhai as saying on Wednesday. “Iran is one of the leading countries in trout production, currently accounting for 16% of the world’s total trout production,” he added. Noting that Iran has produced 370,000 tons of different species of aquatic animals in the first ten months of the current Iranian year, he said: “Shrimp production increased by nearly 60% during this period compared with the similar period last year.” Easy access to the Caspian Sea, the Persian Gulf, the Gulf of Oman, and many river basins provides Iran enough resources to develop its fisheries.
