Dams supplying water to Tehran include Taleqan, Latyan, Mamlou, Karaj and Lar. The five dams together can hold 2 billion cubic meters of water, but the water stored in them is now less than 12% of their total capacity.
An estimated 270 billion kilowatt-hours of power have been produced in Iran’s 130 thermal power stations since March 2022, said a deputy manager at Iran's Thermal Power Plants Holding Company.
“Of the total output, steam-powered plants, gas-powered stations and combined-cycle plants generated 84 billion kWh, 59 billion kWh and 127 billion kWh respectively in the nine-month period,” Nasser Eskandari was also quoted as saying by the Energy Ministry’s news service.
The official said thermal power facilities account for 93% of Iran’s total power demand in summer, but when demand falls, the figure declines to 80%.
A total of 1.24 million tons of goods worth $613.29 million were exported from Kurdestan Province’s border terminals in the first nine months of the current Iranian year (March 21-Dec. 21), registering a 22% rise in both weight and value, compared with the similar period of last year, according to a local customs official.

The average annual inflation gap measured by the Statistical Center of Iran among income deciles stood at 9.2% in the ninth month of the current Iranian year (Nov. 22-Dec. 21), up 0.7 percentage points compared to the previous month.
The inflation gap in “food, beverages and tobacco” group among income deciles grew by 0.4 percentage points and that of “non-food and services” group declined by 0.1 percentage points compared with the previous month.
The average goods and services Consumer Price Index in the 12-month period ending Dec. 21 increased by 51.7% for the first decile (those with the lowest income) and grew by 42.5% for the 10th decile (those with the highest income).

According to the World Bank’s classification in 2022, in a list containing 217 countries and territories, there are 28 countries in low income class, 54 countries in lower-middle income class, 54 in upper-middle income class and 81 in the high income class, the Economic Studies Department of Tehran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines and Agriculture wrote in a draft report citing World Bank data. Nilson Report, a credible source of news and analysis of the global card and mobile payment industries, has ranked seven Iranian payment service providers among the World Leading Merchant Acquirers in 2021.
Saman E-Pay topped the list of Middle East and Africa's largest acquirers in terms of the number of transactions. The company processed more than 7.7 billion transactions in 2021 emerging as the world's 13th largest, according to Nilson Report. SEP climbed two places compared to 2020.
Behpardakht Mellat was 14th on the list with over 7.6 billion transactions down three notches since 2020 when it ranked 11.
The Central Insurance company of Iran (CII) has published a report on the risk retention capacity of domestic insurers adding three new companies to the list.
According to the CII website, the state-owned Iran Insurance Company tops the list and can now handle 51.13 trillion rials ($139.7 million) in risks in different categories.
Pasargad Insurance Company, affiliated to Bank Pasargad, is second with 13.8 trillion rials ($37.7m) worth of risks.
The Central Bank of Iran said Sunday electronic checks can be processed electronically without referring to bank branches. Mehran Mahramian, the CBI deputy for innovative technologies said banks, however, will continue issuing print checks.
"Electronic checks are a new ecosystem and we are hopeful businesses will start using it. As such, we have no plans to discontinue [the use of] print checks," IBENA quoted him as saying.
All banks are obliged to accept electronic checks, Mahramian noted.
Tehran Stock Exchange's main index, TEDPIX, slumped by another 26,130.25 points or 1.64% on Sunday to end at 1,564,365.67. The TSE equal-weighted index lost 2.43%.
About 13.37 billion shares worth 74.9 trillion rials ($258.26 million) changed hands for the day. Trading at TSE and over-the-counter Iran Fara Bourse starts on Saturday and ends Wednesday.
Bahman Investment Group Company led the winner’s list as its shares jumped 6.84% to 4,204 rials per share.
A total of 580 new ideas in the form of research projects, technological knowhow, knowledge-based products and master's and doctoral theses have been registered in the new Ideas and Needs System (NAN), according to the head of the Islamic World Science Citation Center and secretary of the NAN Policy Council.
“According to the latest statistics, 6,321 technological needs have also been registered in this system,” Ahmad Fazelzadeh was also quoted as saying by IRNA.
The new ideas were registered in the form of 276 research projects, 67 knowledge-based products, 49 technological knowhow, 15 master's and doctoral theses, as well as 173 other projects.
