34 Nations on Asian Games Medals Table

Of the total 45 nations participating in the Jakarta Asian Games, almost half have won medals since the games opened on August 18.

China, Japan and South Korea have been atop the medals table over the first eight days of the games and their formation is unlikely to change till the end of the event on September 2.

With 162 medals including 72 gold medals, China is expected to go home in grandeur as it did in the previous nine editions of the games.

Japan is trailing with 115 medals (39 gold) and South Korea is in third place with a total of 91 medals including 25 gold.

Two nations are fighting fiercely for the fourth spot. Iran is currently fourth having bagged 14 gold, 13 silver and 10 bronze medals. Following closely is the host nation, Indonesia, with 12 gold, 12 silver and 19 bronze medals.

North Korea, Thailand, Taiwan, India and Uzbekistan are ranked sixth to tenth respectively.

The middle of the table (from 11th to 22nd ranks) is taken by Kazakhstan, the UAE, Malaysia, Singapore and Jordan among others.

On the lower side of the table are Bahrain, Lebanon, Iraq, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Turkmenistan and Pakistan which have less than four medals a piece.

Afghanistan is at the bottom of the table with one bronze medal.
