The CEOs of two major firms active in Iran’s tech and telecom sectors have been replaced over the past few days.
Ali Semsarilar has replaced Saeed Rahmani to head Iranian private equity firm Sarava Pars.
The firm has invested in numerous Iranian startups, including Digikala and Cafe Bazaar, Peivast reported.
The news about Rahmani’s departure triggered a heated debate on Twitter among Iranian entrepreneurs and startups owners. Some praised him for supporting startups while others harshly scrutinized his record and criticized his failings.
Semsarilar has reportedly worked for Sarava since past several years.
Late on Wednesday, Shahin Arpanahi was appointed CEO of local operator Taliya Mobile.
The company’s board of managers hopes that a different hand on the tiller would give Taliya a boost.
Arpanahi had previously worked as a high-ranking manager at leading Iranian mobile operator Mobile Telecommunications Company of Iran.
Taliya, established in 2004, has lost much of the market share and is currently one of the smallest mobile operators of Iran.
