Iran, China Expanding Tech Ties

An Iranian delegation will visit China later this year to discuss the expansion of bilateral tech ties to bolster collaborations between innovative knowledge-based companies and startups.
The Iranian delegation of tech authorities and directors of 50 knowledge-based companies, headed by Sorena Sattari, the vice president for science and technology, will attend a five-day meeting on Nov. 10-14 in Shenzhen, China.
According to the vice president’s office, the event will provide an opportunity for the two countries to discuss possible collaboration opportunities in different tech areas.
China is a major trade partner of Iran. However, collaborations have been mostly focused on exports of natural resources from Iran and exports of other commodities from China. The untapped potential of Iran’s tech teams and knowledge-based companies can create an economic balance and promote digital economy rather than oil-based transactions.
The meeting will coincide with China High Tech Fair, known as CHTF 2019, during which Iran will also exhibit its latest technologic achievements and innovations.
The annual fair, a major scientific and technological exhibition in China, will bring together nearly 3,000 exhibitors from more than 50 countries. Usually, the event is visited by over 500,000 people.
The event focuses on advanced technologies and products in such fields as energy conservation, environment protection, information technologies, manufacture of high-end equipment and new energy vehicles.
According to the scheduled plan, the Iranian delegation will also make a visit of the host country’s outstanding tech centers, including China-Singapore Suzhou Industrial Park.
A public call has been issued for interested tech companies to join the delegation.
In addition to China, Iranian tech firms and ICT authorities will also attend the International Information and Communications Technology Exhibition in Kabul, Afghanistan, on Sept. 3-5.
Titled Ariana ICT, the exhibition will spotlight the latest technological and innovative products and services developed by tech teams worldwide, ISNA reported.
Backed by Iran’s Vice Presidential Office, ICT Ministry and Iran’s National Innovation Fund, Iran’s pavilion is set to identify the host country’s technology and communication demands, forge connections with investors and businessmen and seek opportunities in Afghanistan’s market.
The organizers will help domestic knowledge-based companies attend the event by extending monetary grants.
According to the event’s website, Ariana ICT’s fairground spans 2,000 square meters across three halls and multiple conference rooms. It will also host host business meetings on the sidelines of the exhibition.
