The National Library and Archives of Iran has entered into an agreement with the Vice Presidential Office for Science and Technology to establish an innovation and technology center in library science, digital documents and content.
A deal was signed between Sorena Sattari the Vice President for Science and Technology, and Ashraf Boroujerdi head of NLA on Monday.
Officials told ISNA that work will soon begin for setting up the center.
The center aims to attract startups active in library work and digital documentation, and offer professional assistance and financial support.
It will also be a venue for technological events and exhibitions in the field of library science and archives.
Sattari said the wealth of information NLA has can feed startups and accelerators operating in the field and expand their footprint. "Dynamic startups can and should become profitable and contribute to the realization of the digital economy."
Data is crucial for setting up a technological ecosystem and startups, Sattari said. "Providing startups with timely and accurate information and access to databases can help them grow.”
The move is in line with the government's policy to support knowledge-based companies and tech firms.
