Government Taps Private Bank for Supporting Startups

As per an agreement signed between Iran’s Vice Presidential Office for Science and Technology and Iran Zamin Bank, the latter will support local startups.
The deal calls on the private bank to help startups by offering consultancy services and providing them with financial aid packages, Peivast news website reported.
The agreement was signed at Iran Zamin Innovation Center, which has been jointly established by Iran Zamin Bank and Nutash Technology Accelerator Corp.
The innovation center, in addition to offering investment to fledgling startups, operates as an accelerator helping tech firms commercialize their products and solutions.
Over the past few years, especially since President Hassan Rouhani took office in 2013, support for startups and tech companies has been placed high on the Iranian government’s agenda.
The government support has boosted growth in the sector by creating a nurturing environment for tech firms and online businesses.
