Several Iranian cities are set to host provincial editions of the 12th Iran Web and Mobile Festival, a nationwide contest for local online businesses, in February 2020.
The event was to be held in four provinces, in addition to the capital, in its 11th edition held in mid-February 2019. However, the decision was postponed due to preparation and planning issues.
Jointly organized by Iran E-Commerce Union and Iranian Guild for Online Businesses and several NGOs, the IWMF will be simultaneously held in Tehran, Isfahan, Fars, East Azarbaijan, Gilan, Khuzestan and Golestan provinces.
According to the event's website, the festival is aimed at promoting business prospects for fledgling startups and tech firms, and introducing their activities to the public.
Preparations and registration have started for the 12th round. App developers and website owners can register through the festival’s website IWMF.ir.
Based on the new regulations of the festival, three successful websites and mobile applications will be awarded in each host province. Entrepreneurs will also address the gathering.
The event's statement reads, "The festival aims to help active startups gain public trust and social acceptance, consequently making life easier for the people."
The previous edition of IWMF was attended by close to 1,800 startup and tech companies. Over a dozen panels and workshops were held, covering a variety of subjects from digital marketing methods to state policies and the bloated government bureaucracy.
The 11th event was held in collaboration with the public sector and the Vice Presidential Office for Science and Technology.
Further information on the upcoming festival will be announced on the event's website.
