Gov’t Support for Marine Technology Companies

Six marine technology startups are to receive support from the Vice Presidential Office for Science and Technology to expand the sector through smart solutions.
The firms are to be backed for commercializing their innovative solutions, the office's website Isti.ir reported. 
The selected startups were the best performing teams among 32 participants in an earlier marine industry startup event held by the vice presidential office in February.
Mohsen Naderi, the event’s executive secretary, said the six winner startups will be introduced to potential investors and accelerators to receive all the support they need to flourish and enter the market.
"Adjusting marine propulsion with cutting-edge technologies, applying smart solutions to ports, upgrading ship engines and monitoring and maintaining ships are among topics the startups will continue to work on," he said. 
According to Naderi, these are the main issues that domestic marine industry is struggling with.
“A nationwide call has also been issued to invite gifted university students, enthusiasts, experts and tech companies to join the startups and help them grow,” he said.
